Massage therapy is a hands on technique applied to the muscles and soft tissues of the body. There are various techniques for massage but the most common is Swedish massage. The therapist will use long, smooth strokes, kneading and stretching to loosen the muscular and connective tissue layers. They may use a massage oil or lotion or essential oils to aid in the process. Massage therapy creates increased blood circulation resulting in an influx of oxygen and nutrients into the tissues. It can be used for healing injuries such as strained muscles or sore joints or it can be used to achieve relaxation and stress relief.

Hot stone massage is a specialty massage where the therapist uses smooth, heated stones, either as an extension of their own hands, or by placing them on specific parts of the body while they massage elsewhere. The heat is deeply relaxing and helps warm the tissues so the therapist can work more easily into the muscles.

A typical massage is one hour long, although 30 minute and 90 minute sessions are available. The therapist will go over your main complaint and relevant history and then leave the room for you to undress and get under the sheets. During the treatment, you will always be carefully draped by the sheets and only the body part being worked on will be exposed. Always let the therapist know if you are too hot or cold or if the pressure is right.
